Linguistica Antverpiensia, New Series – Themes in Translation Studies (LANS – TTS, ISSN 2295-5739) is an annual, peer-reviewed, open-access publication devoted to the study of translation and interpreting that is indexed in the Web of Science. The journal is not bound to any particular school of thought or academic group. Translation is understood to be a dynamic form of communication which has strong roots in the society and culture that produce it and is conceived as an integral part of the production and reproduction of culture in the broadest sense.

LANS-TTS is published once a year in December in the form of a single, guest-edited thematic issue. There is no open issue (continuous publication).

Call for proposals for thematic issue 27, to appear in December 2028

Guest editors may submit proposals for thematic issue 27 to the journal’s editorial board. The editorial board will draw up a shortlist by examining proposals based on their originality, international thematic relevance and innovativeness, as well as non-redundancy with previous thematic issues. To be considered, proposals must include the following five elements:

  • guest editors’ names and affiliations;
  • a title and a brief presentation of the proposed theme (500–1000 words), consisting of a general description of the proposed theme, followed by more specific research topics and/or research questions;
  • a working reference list in APA format (7th edition);
  • a motivation (max. 500 words) explaining why the proposed theme is innovative, as well as relevant for Translation and Interpreting Studies at large;
  • guest editors’ track records in the suggested research domain(s) (e.g., proof of academic achievements, credentials, expertise).

Evaluation

Proposals for thematic issues are discussed at the annual meeting of the editorial board, which generally takes place in November. The editorial board will take one of the following three decisions:

  • accept the proposal without modifications;
  • accept the proposal with suggestions for modifications (‘conditional acceptance’);
  • reject the proposal.

Deadlines

  • Submission of a proposal for a thematic issue: 8 November 2026
  • Acceptance of the submitted proposal for a thematic issue: 21 December 2026
  • The guest editors publish their call for abstracts for the special issue, after approval by the chief editors, no later than 1 February 2027.
  • Submission of abstracts to the guest editors: 1 May 2027 (title and abstract of approx. 300 words, references not included). The abstracts will be reviewed by the guest editors.
  • If necessary, second call for abstracts: 1 June 2027.
  • Acceptance of abstracts: 1 July 2027. Upon acceptance, authors will receive a style sheet for their full papers.
  • Submission of full papers: 1 December 2027 (maximum 8,000 words, including references, notes and spaces). Start of the double-blind review process, organised by the guest editors.
  • Acceptance of papers: 7 March 2028.
  • Submission of the final versions of the papers: 1 June 2028. Guest editors will accept the final versions after proofreading. If necessary, they can request a third version by 1 September 2023.
  • The editorial work and proofreading done by the chief editors and their team of editorial assistants take place between 1 September and 1 November 2028. The editorial board takes care of the final editing work, adding the accepted book reviews to the volume and publishing the final PDF and HTML files.
  • Publication of the volume in the course of December 2028.

Double-blind peer review process

The review process is organised by the guest editors. Reviewers can be selected from a list of experts made available by the journal. Guest editors may also suggest additional experts for the reviewing process.

Publication languages

LANS – TTS is dedicated to multilingualism in scientific communication. Papers proposed to the journal may be written in English, French, German or Spanish. Out of these languages, the choice of specific languages permitted for the special issue is left at the discretion of the guest editors.
